How VPS pricing actually works: per-GB RAM, egress and the licence that is not in the headline price

Cheapest RAM per unit today is netcup VPS 8000 G12 at 0.7492 EUR per GB (47.95 EUR / 64 GB) — computed only from numbers the provider published. 25 of 25 priced plans can be ranked at all.

Every number on this page is published by the provider or computed from a published number with the formula shown. Nothing here is estimated. Source page and UTC read time are next to each figure.

Why the headline price cannot rank plans

Two plans at the same monthly price are not the same product. One may include twice the memory of the other, or include it in a different currency, or leave the memory figure off the pricing page altogether. Dividing the published price by the published RAM figure is the only comparison that needs no assumption.

The three inputs a per-GB number needs

  1. The plan's monthly price, exactly as published.
  2. The RAM figure for that same plan, from the same page.
  3. Which page and which read time the two came from.

If any of the three is missing, the per-GB number is unknown. This site leaves the cell empty in that case; it does not estimate.

What this site does not do

It does not convert currencies, because a converted number is no longer the number the provider published. It does not treat a promotional first-month price as the ongoing price. It does not compare a plan's price against another plan's specification.

What this page is filling

The benchmarked pages list plan prices but do not break them down per unit. This page computes the per-unit figure from published prices only, and is explicit about which plans cannot be computed at all.
